Blog Tour - Eric Wilson's SHRED OF TRUTH

READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A COPY OF SHRED OF TRUTH!!!

I am an Eric Wilson fan. A month ago, the closest I was to an Eric Wilson fan was simply having him as a friend on Myspace and Shoutlife. I knew of him mostly because a friend recommended his work. I have not read any of Eric's other work, but I can say this: I will.

As a "suspense" writer (man, I use that term loosely since the CBA tends to brand anything remotely resembling horror/thriller/supernatural, etc. all under the "suspense" umbrella), I have worked to accomplish a few key things with my work. Fast pacing. Action driven plot lines. Plot twists and turns. Deep, sympathetic characters. So, when I come across a piece of fiction that embodies those things, I can't help but enjoy. And I have thoroughly enjoyed SHRED OF TRUTH.

SHRED OF TRUTH is the second story revolving around the character Aramis Black and his continuously unravelling past. It opens as Aramis finds his brother dangling from a statue with two letters carved into his flesh: AX. This begins an exciting adventure full of twists, turns, and emotional manipulation. Oh, did I mention Aramis' struggle to be a better man?

As a newfound Christian, Aramis keeps trying to put his tainted past behind him. But his tattoos (swords on his forearm that epitomize his former credo of live by the sword, die by the sword) continuously remind him of the mistakes he's made. Even though his life is anything but normal, this makes Aramis' character one with which anyone can relate. Most folks have a few skeletons in their closet. Aramis' just keep coming out to get him.

I won't give away any key plot points, but I will assure you this is an excellent read. This is one of those page-turners that will make you want to churn it out in a single sitting if time allows. Eric gives us a mysterious antagonist, which helps build the story's mystery. Aramis spends so much time questioning everything that he starts considering even his friends could be involved. Eric also introduces an unlikely character from Aramis' past and an ex-flame. All key ingredients for the suspenseful mixing pot that ends up simmering to perfection like a southern gumbo should.

Yes, I heard about that series and I'm looking forward to it. I keep hearing industry news about it and how the publisher is doing all they can to avoid the word "vampire", etc. I can't wait to see how that plays out.

I know I'm late to the discussion, but I can vouch for my editors at Thomas Nelson: no one's tried to keep vampire out of the discussion of my upcoming series.

I have avoided, however, using "Christian vampire novel," because it leads to confusion as to whether I mean that vampires can be Christian. That's not at all the point of my series. I prefer to say it's a vampire novel with a biblical backdrop...a mix of The Historian and The Screwtape Letters.
